Kathy Valentine made music history as part of the first all-female band to write and perform a number one record in America; The Go-Go's. She wrote or co-wrote some of the band’s most renowned songs including the hits “Vacation” and “Head Over Heels.” She’s continued to build on her successful 40-year music career with her all-woman Austin band The Bluebonnets, her solo pursuits, and mentoring or producing up-and-coming artists. Kathy has chosen to expand upon her creative and academic pursuits with a memoir underway for the esteemed University of Texas Press, a film-acting debut this fall and the near completion of her first college degree from St. Edwards University. She continues her legacy work with the Go-Go’s, who have a musical, “Head Over Heels” opening on Broadway in July, along with three sold out 2018 summer performances at the world famous Hollywood Bowl. Recently tapped as a spokeswoman and face for Brookside Chocolate, and in 2015 for Rainbow Light Supplements, Valentine enjoys the opportunities that brand affiliation brings for her to reach out and connect with new audiences with a message of empowerment, self-reinvention, and staying challenged and inspired as a woman in the second half of life. Along these lines, she has done keynote speeches for The American Heart Association Go Red For Women, Kids In A New Groove, and Musicians for Equal Opportunities for Women Convention.
Kathy lives in Austin with her 15-year-old daughter and a few rescue animals. She loves to engage with people on social media and is active on Twitter: @Kathy_Valentine and Facebook: Kathy Valentine Official. Her hobbies are the same as her career pursuits with the addition of travel, reading, computer graphic software and recording.
