2022 Honoree
Betty Griffin

The Centrum Arts League is delighted to announce that Betty Griffin, owner of Scruples Boutique, will be honored at the 26th annual Pizzazz with Jazz Luncheon on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Shirley Acres.
Since 1979, Betty has been a staple in the Northwest Houston community. She has selflessly given countless style shows, events, and donations to many organizations in our area and has never said no when asked to help. This was never more evident than during the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey in 2017. Betty came to the aid of the community by donating over 2,000 new outfits to our local victims.
Betty was born and raised in Philadelphia. She married Michael Griffin and they had a son, Michael, and two daughters, Betty Ann Drury, and Linda Dietert. Betty has a daughter in law, Marilyn Griffin, a son in law, Jeff Drury and eight grandchildren.
Betty learned to sew in high school, made clothes for her children and studied marketing at Ursinus College in Pennsylvania. When the family relocated to Houston in the mid 70’s, Betty was yearning for a change and was hired as a sales representative for Scruples. Betty had a natural talent for style, sales, and entrepreneurship. A few years later, she bought the Scruples business. Over the next four decades, Betty has grown the business and developed life-long friendships with her customers.
Today, Betty is still operating Scruples with her two daughters (pictured above at Scruples). She always finds time to spend with her children and grandchildren. You can also find Betty enjoying ballroom dancing twice a week.
